I congratulate the Kurdistan Regional Authority for preparing this report on the implementation of the strategy of Anti- corruption in the official institutions of the Kurdistan Region.
Of course, fighting corruption and limiting the waste of public resources has been an important part of the agenda of the ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government. Therefore, we have worked seriously and taken necessary measures to promote transparency and fight corruption. In this regard, we have good coordination and relations with the Kurdistan Regional Authority as an independent institution.
This report was prepared with the cooperation and negotiation with the government of Kurdistan Region In September 2021, the Council of Ministers approved the anti-corruption strategy and reaffirmed its position to continue to promote transparency, accountability and anti-corruption measures, as well as ministries and parties The relevant authorities were instructed to follow up the implementation of the recommendations of this report, which was presented in March this year, in the meeting of the Council of Ministers by the Chairman of commission of integrity.
It is pleasing that most of the demands and recommendations mentioned in this report to fight corruption, the ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government since the beginning of its work, has worked on and planned and agenda for their implementation, including:
- - Digitizing government affairs, building a strong digital infrastructure and moving towards e-government.
The process of digitization of government services and affairs continues and is an important part of government reforms that will undoubtedly play an effective role in promoting clarity and transparency, eliminating bureaucracy and limiting corruption and waste of public resources.
Another theme of our work towards fighting corruption is to reform the banking system and link government and private sector institutions to an advanced and modern banking system.
Having an advanced and active banking system is also one of the basic necessities of people's daily lives. - - It is an important factor of economic development and a favorable environment for economic and trade growth and helps to reduce and curb corruption.
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has also worked on amending and submitting several bills, the most prominent of which was the reform law on salaries, allowances, grants, privileges and pensions in the Kurdistan Region In 2020, it was sent to the Kurdistan Parliament and approved.
In recent years, several corruption cases have been investigated and sent to the Kurdistan Regional Courts.
Dear Attendees :
We have a strong desire to fight corruption, but this is not only the duty of the government and the courts, but also requires the coordination, cooperation and support of all citizens, all sections of society, universities, educational institutions, religious teachers and media outlets They can play an important and effective role in raising public awareness and explaining the dangers of corruption.
At the same time, we must work to develop and spread a culture of integrity, honesty and loyalty.
However, some of the problems in fighting corruption and the reform program have been the interference and role of political parties that have not only not cooperated, but some parties have systematically opposed the government's efforts.
However, I assure the beloved citizens of Kurdistan that despite all the problems, obstacles and crises, we will continue to continue the reform agenda, fight corruption and prevent the waste of public resources.
Once again, I congratulate commission of integrity for preparing this report and I reaffirmed the full support of the Kurdistan Regional Government in order to limit and eradicate the deadly epidemic of corruption in the Kurdistan Region.
May you be happy and successful.
